Job Description:

Accountabilities:

Facilities

  • Dishwashing & Cleaning Duties: Wash, stack, sort, and store all dishes, cutlery, cookware, and utensils according to Public Health Standards; clean and maintain dish stations, machines, and appliances.

  • Sanitation & Safety: Keep kitchen, dish area, and floors clean and dry; promptly address spills and broken items; clean storage areas including refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage.

  • Dining & Kitchen Support: Perform cleaning duties in dining areas, reset and restock for the next shift, and assist with bussing tables and general cleanup tasks as needed.

  • End-of-Shift Responsibilities: On late shifts, lock doors, turn off lights and appliances, return keys to the Front Desk, and take out trash.

  • Communication & Equipment Maintenance: Inform supervisors of supply needs, ensure dishwasher and equipment are functional, and report any issues promptly.

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all health, safety, and hygiene standards are met in accordance with facility requirements and The Salvation Army's policies; complete and submit hazard reports as needed.

  • Equipment Monitoring & Reporting: Report any broken or needed equipment to the supervisor and ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a regular full-time position based on 40 hours weekly.

  • Ability to lift/move on a regular basis up to 25 pounds.

  • This job requires walking, carrying, sitting, reaching, bending, twisting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching frequently and working in a standing position for long periods of time.

Normal hours of work - Hours and work schedule will vary as operational requirements and follows a work rotation schedule and will include days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. The above responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Army's Mission, Vision, and Values, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Completed grade 10.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

  • Hospitality industry, especially kitchen experience is an asset.

  • Ability to operate an industrial dishwasher

  • Knowledge of health and safety standards.

Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $35,776.00 to $39,023.75 with a maximum of $46,828.50.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
