Laundry Aide

Position: Laundry Aide, Part-Time (30 hours bi-weekly)

LAUNDRY AIDE

Reporting to the Support Services Manager, the Laundry Aide plays a key role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within the home. This position is responsible for handling, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and residents' clothing according to established policies and procedures. The Laundry Aide ensures that all laundry is cleaned and sanitized properly to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for residents

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collects and sort laundry based on type, condition, and weight, ensuring proper handling of soiled linens according to established procedures.
  • Washes and dries laundry following machine operation guidelines, designated wash/dry cycles, and care instructions. Sorts, folds, and delivers laundry to appropriate units, setting aside items for repair or ironing as needed.
  • Observes machine operations, reports malfunctions to the Supervisor, and assists in maintaining laundry facilities, equipment, and supplies. Monitors inventory levels of chemicals and linens, notifying the Supervisor of shortages.
  • Maintains residents' privacy and dignity while performing duties.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures related to quality assurance, fire safety, and infection control.
  • Collaborates with other departments on tasks such as transferring residents and moving or storing supplies, furniture, and equipment.
  • Participates in staff meetings and attends in-service training programs as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in laundry services, housekeeping, or a related field (healthcare or hospitality experience is an asset).
  • Knowledge of laundry procedures, fabric care, and infection control practices.
  • Ability to operate industrial washing and drying machines safely and efficiently.
  • Physically capable of lifting, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and moving heavy loads.
  • Comfortable working in an environment with biochemical agents, cleaning chemicals, heat, and wet floors.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to read and write English and follow simple written and verbal instructions in English.
