REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE with Behavioural Support Position
Extendicare Lakefield - Full-time
Registered Practical Nurses are invited to apply for the permanent full-time (75 hours bi-weekly) position with Behavioural Support focus to work at our Extendicare Scarborough, a 100-bed long-term care home, located in Lakefield, Ontario.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Care, the RPN will enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practice in keeping with the Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, Long Term Care Standards and Extendicare Standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Works in a team environment within the guidelines of the Central East LHIN Behavioural Support Ontario (BSO) Project to assist with coordinating the care and services for residents with responsive behaviours.
Demonstrates knowledge in dementia care, delirium, mental health issues and the impact that is has on the resident's quality of life, family members and care partners.
Responsible for promoting and contributing to the development of a person-centred philosophy of care for residents exhibiting behavioural challenges and utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with the resident, family, staff and care providers to ensure that a holistic plan of care is in place for the resident.
QUALIFICATIONS
Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with the residents, family members and internal and external care partners.
Delivers person-centred care which recognizes both the uniqueness of each resident and an awareness of one's own contribution to the relationship, including personal attributes, values, and action to include:
