RESIDENT PROGRAM MANAGER - Temporary 3 Month Contract

This position is for our Kawartha Lakes Home, located in Lindsay, Ontario.
What you'll be doing:
Manages unionized and non-unionized contracted staff
Recruits, provides orientation and maintains continuous learning opportunities Conducts staff investigations, performance management and return to work program; monitors attendance program; authorizes vacation and time off requests; approves overtime; processes payroll
Maintains staff schedules; revises job descriptions and job routines
Facilitates and coordinates meetings and activities for Residents Council, H&S,
Performs rotational weekend and holiday on-call manager duties
Participates on ITDC and divisional teams such as QI, BSO, RAI-MDS, infection control, palliative care, emergency preparedness, ethics, peer group, safety group and LTC accreditation
Management Co-chair of H&S Committee and responsible for overseeing on-line training of Extendicare's 24-7 Safety program, including WHMIS and AODA of staff
Resident-Centered Care
Oversees the resident recreation admission and quarterly assessments in collaboration with residents, caregivers and ITDC meetings
Coordinates resident satisfaction surveys
Collaborates with teams on rehabilitative, therapeutic and recreation program development including Montessori, Snoezelen, music, horticultural and art therapies, restorative mobility and ROM; recreational programs in 5 domains, including group and 1:1 (cultural and theme events, community outings and special celebrations including Celebration of Life Memorials)
Coordination of equipment repairs and loans
Scheduling clinics with contracted service providers (dental, vison and hearing and adaptive apparel services
Coordination of application process for accessibility transportation i.e. Transhelp
Financial Management
Procures regular Activation department and special program supplies such as entertainers, vendors, dietary department and external food purchases; decorations to meet operational budgets; assist with corporate contract tendering, process petty cash receipts and supplier invoices
Responsible for completing biweekly payroll for Activation Staff
Volunteer Management
Recruits and manages a diverse volunteer base and student placements from high schools, colleges and universities in activation, gerontology, recreation and leisure studies, social services and nursing; multi-faith groups; community associations,
Build partnerships with community groups, St. John Ambulance Pet Therapy Program, Royal Canadian Legion, Veterans Affairs Canada, Girl Guides of Canada, recreation centres, libraries, Credit Valley Conservation, municipal/ provincial/federal governments
Networking with educational institutions, service groups, faith organizations, media and local businesses
Presentations and fundraising initiatives to raise awareness for Alzheimer's Society of Peel (Annual Coffee Break and Walk for Memories); Farley Foundation
Plans and facilitates volunteer appreciation activities and recognition
Computer Proficiency
Utilizes the internet, Citrix, Publisher, Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for monthly activity calendars, posters, presentations, minutes, memos, newsletters, scheduling, booking appointments, emails, notices, bulletins, upload and update resident photos in database
Operates documentation and training applications, including Activity Pro, Extendicare-based payroll software, Point Click Care and iTacit
What you bring:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or related field, including social work from a university or community college required
Knowledge of the concepts of Activation and Therapeutic Techniques, Restorative care, Gentle Persuasive Approach, Montessori-based programing and event planning
Minimum one to two years management experience in Long-term Care
Experience in planning, developing and evaluating effectiveness of group and one-one programming for a diverse population of cognitive and physically impaired aging adults using a resident-centered care approach
