The RN will provide comprehensive nursing in a primary care clinic setting to members of the transgender and non-binary community within a specialized scope of practice. This includes program intake and referral processing, review of client’s medical and social history, physical assessments, nursing diagnosis, and in collaboration with the client, development and implementation of care plans. This role has a large component of client care coordination and community engagement. The RN works as a member of a multidisciplinary team supported by a physician, nurse practitioner, social worker, and community worker.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Postsecondary diploma (RN) or degree (BScN) from a recognized college or university
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • Knowledge of local gender diverse communities and culture
  • Awareness of gender diverse community social, health and medical concerns as well as barriers, and strategies to increase access to necessary health and social services
  • A clear understanding of gender identity issues, comprehensive knowledge and interest in queer and transgender, anti-racist and anti-oppressive matters (training and resources will be provided)
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds with an inclusive and anti-oppressive lens
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records in accordance with the Health Centre’s policies utilizing strong computer skills, including the use of Office 365 products and Electronic Medical Records (Telus Practice Solutions Suite currently in use)

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Demonstrated experience with facilitating programs, program development and/or evaluation
  • Practiced experience with client education and/or developing client education materials
  • Awareness and understanding of the social determinants of health and health promotion
  • Ability to practice from social justice, trauma and violence informed care, and harm reduction frameworks
  • Prior clinical experience in gender affirming care settings
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are members of the Trans/Non-Binary community
  • French and other language skills are considered an asset in supporting the communities we serve
