Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President, HR Operations, the Director, HR Systems and Optimization enables the successful delivery of strategic priorities through established functional HCM architecture standards, principles, and roadmaps. The Director will optimize HR processes and systems. Working in partnership with peers, the Director will foster a collaborative culture, focused on driving continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and customer service excellence.
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement. The role is located at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario.
Accountabilities:
Lead the implementation, configuration, and optimization of HR technology systems, including HCM, talent management, payroll, recruiting, time tracking, and other relevant tools.
Identify opportunities for process automation within HR functions to increase efficiency and reduce manual work.
Work closely with HR and operations to prioritize, assess, and communicate enhancements that improve the employee and HR user experience.
Develop and implement change management strategies to facilitate smooth transitions and adoption.
Manage the budget, review functional performance, and ensure Service level targets are met.
Build and maintain professional partnerships with internal business partners and support internal customers effectively.
Leverage data and analytics to develop new insights into the functions, inform strategy and drive improvement initiatives.
Constantly seek ways to improve services, satisfaction, and communication.
Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and service quality.
Offer consistent and meaningful leadership to direct reports, with clear performance expectations and targets, establishing and ensuring accountability, providing regular coaching and feedback and opportunities for career development and progression.
Identify skills and/or knowledge gaps within team, including succession planning for key roles.
Model critical thinking skills, problem-solving behaviors, advocacy and a "can do" mentality to achieve a high-performance team environment.
Focus, motivate and inspire the workforce to create and maintain a great consistent customer experience.
Qualifications and Experience:
Post-secondary degree in relevant field; master's degree in business administration or human resources preferred.
Minimum 5 years progressive leadership experience
Experience with Workday HCM and system implementation and governance processes.
Experience in a unionized environment preferred.
Demonstrated success in optimizing HR processes and driving organizational change.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Collaborative style with ability to work with all levels of an organization and across divisions.
Proven ability to articulate a strategy and translate it into action and lead a team to execute and achieve stated goals.
Compelling and results-oriented leader who engenders high performance from individuals at all levels.
A demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement
Proven analytical mindset and ability to use metrics/dashboards to guide and monitor progress.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and ability to recognize and respond to changing priorities.
