Job Description

The role of the Health & Safety Partner [1 year contract] is to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of occupational injuries to worker's compensation boards across Canada. The role will focus on providing support during the initial reporting period of a WSIB/WCB Claim.

The Health & Safety Partner will also be responsible for providing meaningful insight and assistance to internal stakeholders to ensure the success of the Occupational Return to Work Program. The Health & Safety Partner is reporting to the Senior Manager, OH&S Claims and working as part of the Extendicare Head Office Health & Safety Team

This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario, with flexibility for in-office work as part of our hybrid work model.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the Intake, review/analysis, completion and submission of WSIB/WCB employers reports to applicable provincial worker's compensation boards
  • The Health and Safety Partner is responsible for ensuring legislated reporting requirements are implemented and engaging internal stakeholders accordingly
  • This includes advising on initial modified work and writing of initial period objection letters as required
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on occupational claims management strategies and best practices
  • Deliver coaching and educational sessions/webinar on an ad-hoc basis to internal stakeholders
  • Participate in OH&S Claims management program review, evaluation and provide user's experience feedback
  • Collaborate with OH&S Prevention team and other internal stakeholders on key shared initiatives
  • Report and communicate with OH&S agencies where applicable of legislated notification requirements
  • Collaborate with Worker's Compensation Representatives where required
  • Liaise with the worker's compensation boards on claims related matters as required
  • Administration and processing of Workers Compensation Board communications
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications and Experience

  • College diploma in a related field i.e., Business Administration, HR entry level, LR, OH&S or payroll
  • 1-2 years' experience in WSIB/WCB Claims
  • Background in a healthcare environment would be an asset
  • Experience with WSIB/WCB Standards, regulations, and procedures
  • Intermediate computer skills, focusing on Microsoft office experience
  • Experience with payroll and scheduling systems is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
