POSITION SUMMARY:

In this hybrid role, we require an experienced Payroll team player to provide full-cycle payroll support for multiple companies. The ideal individual would excel at time management and customer service while utilizing their expertise and knowledge in improving payroll processes to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the function.

This is a hybrid full time 18 months contract role with possible extension. The role is primarily virtual with occasional travel to the Markham office on need basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

PAYROLL

  • Manage the payroll process setup of employees and payroll-related transactions into the payroll system.
  • Prepare bi-weekly payrolls for multiple companies within required deadlines.
  • Calculation and payment of payroll-related remittances within required deadlines
  • Reconcile statutory remittances including issuance of T4s.
  • Reconcile pension contributions.
  • Maintain compliance with government regulations.
  • Provide positive customer service responding to and resolving inquiries from employees.
  • Communicating with internal and external customers
  • Maintain files and documentation in accordance with company policies and accepted accounting practices.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation required.
  • Minimum three years' experience administering payroll.
  • Solid comprehension and understanding of payroll practices and related legislation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy of work; detail oriented with excellent organization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral with a strong customer service focus
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks Payroll is an asset.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
  • Ability to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality.
  • Effective decision making and analytical aptitude; forward thinking with the ability to propose improvement on inefficiencies.
  • Intermediate Excel skills required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines is required.
