POSITION SUMMARY:

The SE Research Centre conducts impact-oriented health services research to synthesize, generate, translate, adapt and directly apply scientific evidence in the design, delivery and evaluation of person and family-centred health and social care services.

This Research Fellowship, reporting to the Scientific Director of the SE Research Centre, requires scientific expertise in mixed methods research, supported by strong project management skills. The Research Fellow will primarily be responsible for leading the implementation of health services research studies within the SE Research Centre priority research fields. They will also assist in the development and execution of research proposals and study protocols in collaboration with SE Research Scientists and the Scientific Director. The Research Fellow will be expected to contribute to leadership within the SE Research Centre by providing direct support and mentorship to Research Associates in their daily work.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research Study Development & Implementation

  • Implement high quality, rigorous, applied health services research study protocols with support from Research Scientists and/or the Scientific Director, including: obtaining research ethics approval, recruitment, data collection, data analysis, and knowledge mobilization activities
  • Ensure high quality data collection and analysis in research studies in the SE Research Centre, with support from Research Associates
  • Promote all projects within the SE Research Centre research program both internally and externally with other researchers, academic audiences, health and social care specialists/ providers, innovators and business leaders and the public
  • Support the development of research study protocols for high quality, rigorous, applied health services research studies in collaboration with Research Scientists and/or the Scientific Director

Knowledge Mobilization

  • Lead development of project reports, summaries, and social media content to support messaging and knowledge mobilization of study results to a wide range of audiences
  • Lead writing activities for academic publication with support from Research Scientists and/or the Scientific Director
  • Monitor conference opportunities, develop and submit conference abstracts, and support development and execution of presentations in a variety of formats to academic, practitioner and decision-maker audiences

Team Support/ Mentorship

  • Support Research Associates on strong project management of scientific research studies including all project documentation
  • Lead SE Research Centre team initiatives to improve/ maintain collaboration, efficiency and/or engagement

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • PhD in health services research related discipline from a recognized university
  • A minimum of five years of experience participating in relevant health services research activities
  • Experience with writing for various audiences, including academic publication
  • Experience mentoring others in an academic and/or research context
  • Tri-Council Policy Statement (2): Ethical Conduct of Research Involving Humans certificate
  • GBA+ training

Skill/ Competency Requirements

  • Ability to employ a wide range of data collection and data analysis methods
  • Strong team collaboration and internal/ external networking skills in the context of research studies
  • Strong problem-solving skills in the context of executing research protocols
  • Strong oral and written communications skills and diplomacy and interpersonal skills
