About ONHC
The Ottawa Newcomer Health Centre (ONHC) is a proud program of the Somerset West Community Health Centre that provide healthcare, offers timely, coordinated and culturally appropriate health and social services to newcomers. Our approach to care is through a health equity lens with a focus on addressing the social determinants of health to improve the lives and wellbeing of our clients.
JOB SUMMARY
ONHC is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to work in our busy Primary Health Care Clinic. Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing assessments, telephone and in-person triage, immunizations, Mantoux test, and participating in ordering clinical supply and equipment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
· Registered Nurse, current license with the College of Nurses of Ontario
· Current CPR
· Certification in the administration of immunizations (or demonstration of competency)
Professional Experience
· Three to five years' experience in community nursing
· Previous clinics experience is an asset
· Previous experience using EMR, preferably PSS is an asset
· Experience doing in-person or over the phone triage
· Experience providing immunizations, catch up immunization program for newcomers
· Experience working in a community or primary health care setting
· Previous experience working within a collaborative interdisciplinary team
· Experience working with culturally diverse populations such as newcomers and refugees
· Experience working with disadvantaged communities
Knowledge
· Knowledge of Primary Health Care and the social determinants of health
· Knowledge of concepts of health promotion, disease prevention, behavior change counselling, program planning, individual and group counselling
· Knowledge and awareness related to cultural competence
· Knowledge of nursing care related to Primary Care/Community Health/Chronic Disease Management
· Knowledge of health assessment and interventions in the community or family-based practice context
· Knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention
· Knowledge of acts or legislation that governs practice: Nursing Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, Protection for Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of routine practices (universal precautions), Child Protection Act
Language Capacity
· English required.
· French or other language(s) an asset
