Clinical Informatics Specialist

Permanent Full Time

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Clinical Informatics Specialist is responsible for the training, implementation, and support of clinical information systems initiatives. The position brings the clinical knowledge and leadership required to lead clinicians, departments and programs through business process and patient flow redesign. The Clinical Informatics Specialist is part of the liaison between the clinical stakeholders and Information Systems.

The position is responsible for providing clinicians with computer system support, and for resolution of systems issues.

The Clinical Informatics Specialist implements and maintains training and support programs to assist clinicians to develop and retain the clinical systems knowledge and skills required to excel in the automated health care environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Professional/technical knowledge:

Proven understanding of clinical service delivery in a hospital environment

Demonstrated leadership skills

Demonstrated facilitator skills

Strong knowledge of project management methodology and tools

Preferred:

Health Information Management, Clinical Informatics Certificate

Diploma or undergraduate preparation in Nursing or Allied Health Discipline

Current registration with a CNO or Allied Health Discipline (regulated college)

Previous experience in the planning and implementation of electronic clinical systems

Skills and Abilities:

Proven experience and skills in a change management

Recent experience working with clinical systems and applications (i.e.: Meditech)

Experience working with PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Microsoft Office, Excel

Works well in a team

Demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills (verbally and written)

Proven Analytical skills

Strong organizational skills

Required Experience:

3 years’ clinical experience in health care environment

Previous experience working with adult learners

SALARY: $ 42.388 - $43.192 - $43.992 - $44.796 - $45.598 - $46.398 - $48.721

SHIFTS: Days, nights (Subject to scheduling change as per Management Rights and Article G.01 of the CUPE Collective Agreement.
