About Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital:

About The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Vice President of Clinical Services, and Chief Human Resources Officer, the Manager of Obstetrics & Medical Surgery Unit will be a key member of our progressive Management Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling and leading all aspects in these departments. A focus on ensuring patient and family centered evidence based practice, patient and staff safety. An understanding of quality improvement, use of metrics and measures as they pertain to care delivery and patient/staff safety, LEAN initiatives, human resources management, budget preparation and variance analysis will be important to this position.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Nursing Science degree. You will be in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Current knowledge of Clinical Nursing Practice and College of Nurses Standards of Practice as well as completion of a Nursing Leadership/Management Program.

Specialty certification, and/or knowledge and experience in Obstetrics

Minimum 3 years management/supervisor experience in unionized department preferred

Supports the Patient and Family Centered Care philosophy and participates in quality improvement, risk management and patient safety activities departmentally and organization wide.

Demonstrated strong organizational and leadership abilities in the development and implementation of programs and services.

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, decision making and problem solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships with patients, families, staff members and interdisciplinary teams.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Experience in preparing and managing budgets.
