Join our Providence Healthcare team as we work to put patients and families at the centre of everything we do, in the role of Occupational Therapist in our Orthopedic and Amputee Rehabilitation Program.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary role of an Occupational Therapist is to assess and treat patients whose occupational performance is impaired by illness or injury, social disadvantage, trauma, or the aging process. The purpose of occupational therapy is to promote, maintain, or restore health and wellbeing through engagement in meaningful occupations in the areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure. Occupational therapy services may include assessment, treatment, consultation, discharge planning, and education to patients, their family members, external agencies, and hospital staff.
- Works effectively as a member of an interprofessional team, collaborating with other disciplines to provide comprehensive patient care
- Contributes to the academic mandate of the organization as an educator, resource or support for staff and members of the academic and professional community
- Identifies and addresses educational needs for patients and their families
- Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development in order to continue to provide optimal patient care
- Is committed to and participates in ongoing quality improvement and/or research in the organization
- Provides patient care in accordance with all professional and organizational standards
- Is committed to providing anti oppressive and accessible care for all patients
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be currently licensed by and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario for practice in all applicable clinical areas
- Must hold a Master's Degree (or substantial equivalent) in Occupational Therapy
- Current BLS (or willingness to complete within probationary period)
- As required by the program, must be Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) certified (or willing to certify prior to the end of the probationary period)
- Experience in orthopedic and amputee l rehabilitation is preferred
- Excellent communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
- Proven flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills as relates to patient care
- Demonstrated advocacy, commitment to and involvement with profession preferred (e.g. involvement with professional association, representation on relevant committees)
