POSITION SUMMARY:

The Ward Aide is responsible to support the clinical process on a patient care unit by ensuring the environment is organized and ready for patient care. All duties are performed in accordance with the Mission and Values of Providence Healthcare.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Completion of Grade 12 preferred;
  • Familiarity with personal computers (PC) or computer terminals required;
  • Basic Knowledge of patient/resident care;
  • Strong customer-service skills;
  • Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills;
  • A knowledge of and adherence to safety as related to transport devices and procedures is mandatory;
  • Must be able to tolerate high temperatures and humidity in the environment;
  • Good command of the English language both oral and written is required;
  • Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of a clean and safe environment;
  • The incumbent must also have the ability to perform duties with a minimum amount of supervision, operate in accordance with department sanitation and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) regulations. More specifically, detailed comprehension of WHMIS labels (workplace and supplier) and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) is required;
  • Very good attendance record;
  • Good performance record.

"The employer is not required to consider an employee who has been granted a request for a transfer in the previous six (6) months."

"Employees who apply for a vacancy may not be awarded the position if she/he has not completed the probationary period."

Successful candidates agree and understand that they must be available for other tours of duty and that lines may be subject to change as required by the employer.

Shift / Hours of Work: 7:00-3:00

Length of Temporary Contract: 6 months
