NURSING CLERK (Full-Time) - Extendicare Timmins

Candidates are invited to apply for the permanent, full-time position of Nursing Clerk at our Extendicare Timmins facility, a 180-bed long-term care home, located in Timmins, Ontario.

REPORTING TO: Directors of Care/ Assistant Director of Care

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direction of the Directors of Care/ Assistant Director of Care, or designate, and working alongside the nursing team, the Nursing Clerk is responsible for ordering, distributing, and monitoring nursing supplies, clerical duties include task such as filing and processing orders for diagnostic and laboratory and supporting staffing within the Nursing department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have an Office Administration Diploma
  • Applicants must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organizational skills are essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling applications are essential
  • Recent 1-2 years experience with scheduling and payroll essential
  • Working knowledge of inventory management systems an asset
  • Working knowledge of collective agreements within a unionized environment
  • Able to maintain a positive attitude while under pressure
  • Mentally and physically able to perform duties and maintain regular attendance.
  • Able to work minimal supervision and complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Background in human resources an asset
  • Previous work experience in long term care is an asset
  • Complete all education as required by Extendicare.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains adequate nursing supplies, equipment, and forms by:
  • Ordering supplies as authorized;
  • Receiving supplies and storing in assigned supply areas;
  • Maintaining supply catalogues, inventories, & contract purchase lists;
  • Identifying to DOCs areas of concern re: supply and demand;
  • Stocking of all nursing supplies in all units
  • Maintaining records as required and adhering to established department policies and procedures
  • Assist with processing medical orders as required including diagnostic and laboratory orders
  • Replacing sick calls
  • Other duties as assigned
