Reports to: Program Manager, Medical Oncology and Hematology
Job Grade: A0:06
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $24.82 - $31.02 per hour
Shifts: Weekdays; Monday - Friday
Status: Permanent Full Time

Position Summary
The Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology (DMOH) at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is the most extensive program in Canada and is among the largest in North America. Our program supports extensive clinical, translational, and basic research initiatives including an extensive clinical trials program. Additionally, the DMOH endorses a comprehensive training program attracting both national and international fellows.

The Administrative Assistant II, Medical position supports physicians in DMOH with both clinical and administrative duties. The main function of this position is to support patients and physicians to ensure a smooth patient journey.

Duties

  • Manage physician office phone line/digital messages and act as the primary contact for patients relating to physician specific matters
  • Assist with and track outgoing referrals to ensure timely follow up by other medical specialists
  • Help prepare clinics to ensure tests have been ordered and reported on prior to visits
  • Manage physician calendars and send out meeting invites, take meeting minutes as needed
  • Assist in the completion of forms related to patient care
  • Assist with academic needs of physician such as CV maintenance and promotions
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Completion of Secondary School or recognized equivalent
  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary office/medical administration program at the certificate level or equivalent
  • Two (2) years related administrative support experience
  • Experience working with EPIC EMR for managing referrals, appointment scheduling, and standard clinical operations is required
  • Previous on-the-job computer/word-processing in a Microsoft Office environment is preferred
  • Experience working in a health care environment is an asset
  • Fluency in a second language is considered an asset (e.g., French)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to operate effectively in an interdisciplinary team
