Clinical Operations Lead, Emergency (Job ID: 7541)

Unity Health Toronto, comprised of Providence Healthcare, St. Joseph's Health Centre and St. Michael's Hospital, works to advance the health of everyone in our urban communities and beyond. Our health network serves patients, residents and clients across the full spectrum of care, spanning primary care, secondary community care, tertiary and quaternary care services to post-acute through rehabilitation, palliative care and long-term care, while investing in world-class research and education. Join our team in our mission to continue to put patients and families at the centre of everything we do, in the role of Clinical Operations Lead.

The St. Michael's Hospital Emergency Department (ED) serves a large and diverse inner city population and supports a number of important tertiary programs such as trauma, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, Code STEMI, and Code Stroke. We offer unique services designed to meet the needs of our population, including: geriatric emergency management, social work, community peer support, emergency psychiatry, and a needle exchange program for injection drug users. We also house the Rotary Transition Centre, a 24-hour facility that provides temporary refuge to patients who no longer require hospital care but require one or more supports to ensure safe return to the community.

Our ED currently sees ~80,000 patients per year. We are in the midst of a large-scale renovation to create a Best in Class Emergency Department. Our new acute zone is comprised of 36 individual rooms, and our brand-new trauma bay opened in January 2020. Our new spaces maximize patient safety, experience, access and flow, while also optimizing staff and team experience.

This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative, dynamic and solutions-oriented individual to draw upon their team-building and change management skills to join an inter-professional team in advancing the goals of the department and the strategic plan of the organization. You will be responsible for supporting day-to-day operational issues, indirect staff supervision, and advancing safety, quality, performance, and patient experience. Your collaborative and engaging leadership style will support the team through the next phases of construction and renovation. Staff wellness will be a priority.

This role will report to the Clinical Leader/Manager of the Emergency Department.
