Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Shifts: Day
Status: Temporary Full Time (1 year)

Position Summary:

The department of Respirology is seeking a Clinical Research Study Assistant (CRSA) to assist with conducting clinical research. The CRSA will apply fundamental knowledge of research principles, theories, and concepts, and be familiar with research regulations and guidelines such as ICH/GCP, Tri-Council Policy, Declaration of Helsinki, FDA CFR, and Health Canada TPD. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and regulatory issues. We are looking for an energetic, patient-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced clinical research environment. This role requires both research and patient-facing clinical experience.

Job Duties:

Under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, Clinical Research Manager, and other senior research team members, the responsibilities of the Clinical Research Study Assistant include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in study participant recruitment by identifying and screening potential subjects, obtaining informed consent, conducting pre-testing, and administering questionnaires or other data collection tools.
  • Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of study records and databases.
  • Assist in data collection and source documentation following UHN policy and ICH/GCP guidelines.
  • Prepare Investigator site file binders as per sponsor policies
  • Identify problems using assessment skills and report any abnormalities to the Clinical Research Manager
  • Conduct telephone and/or clinical recruitment interviews
  • Perform various study-related tasks during study visits, such as basic administration, data collection according to the study protocol, archiving close-out studies, lab kit disposal
  • May assist in the preparation of submissions to the Research Ethics Board
  • Execute study-related administrative tasks, assist in the preparation of research reports / presentations and research ethics submissions.

Qualifications

  • At minimum, Community college diploma in a health-related discipline, or equivalent
  • 3 to 6 months related experience, clinical research experience preferred
  • Demonstrated relevant knowledge of clinical research and of human research regulations and guidelines (such as ICH/GCP, Tri-Council Policy, Declaration of Helsinki, FDR, CFR and Health Canada TPD as required)
  • Experience with medical terminology preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organization, prioritization skills, computer skills, ability to learn quickly and work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and attend to details
  • Ability to perform multiple concurrent tasks
  • Experience using data management software applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required
  • Experience working in a health care environment preferred
