Salary: $29.17 - $36.46 per hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)

Position Summary
This position is within the Research program of the Department of Supportive Care (DSC) at University Health Network (UHN), a large academic research institution. The Research program crosses all three divisions of the department: Psychosocial Oncology, Palliative Care, and Cancer Rehabilitation and Survivorship.

Under the supervision of the Manager of the Supportive Care Research program, the successful candidate will play a key role in the overall administration and day-to-day operations of the Research program, including supporting our team of investigators, researchers, administrators and management.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented, highly self-motivated, committed, and hard-working individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills who enjoys the challenge of working within a multidisciplinary research environment. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working in a virtual capacity and in-person.

Duties

  • Implementing, overseeing, and streamlining Research program communications through various channels including social media, a website, reports and presentations.
  • Overseeing and streamlining Research program administrative processes such as onboarding/offboarding staff, students, and trainees etc.
  • Populating a program knowledge repository for researchers.
  • Gathering and tracking key research output performance metrics from stakeholders, maintaining databases with relevant data, and reporting to management, as needed.
  • Organizing and administering Research program and department meetings such as program team meetings, working groups, and an annual retreat.
  • Acting as a delegate for the Research Manager on institutional committees, representing the needs of DSC researchers.
  • Playing a key role in advancing the Research strategic initiatives outlined in department's strategy implementation plan.
  • Supporting collaborative research initiatives between DSC and other UHN departments, as well as other research institutes provincially, nationally, and internationally.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for investigators and researchers in the program, addressing concerns as they arise, and escalating to the Manager, as needed.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of the world's first Supportive Care clinical trials program.

Qualifications

  • At minimum, completion of a 3 year community college program in a health or science-related discipline is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a health or science-related discipline is strongly preferred.
  • At minimum, over 3 years up to and including 4 years work experience in office administration and/or clinical research is required.
  • SOCRA, ACRP or equivalent certification would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail to meet project timelines.
  • Good judgment and ability to problem solve and know when to escalate.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High motivation, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant research guidelines and processes would be considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skill, attention to detail, takes initiative, and works well in a team.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal, communication, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.
