Job Description

Reporting to the Vice Principal of Academics and Operations, the Director will lead the Centre for Institutional Analysis and Planning (CIAP) and be responsible for research, analytics, and data management to support Michener's evidence-informed decision-making and strategic and academic planning. This role involves overseeing data analysis and reporting and developing and maintaining a robust data governance framework in collaboration with teams in Information Management (IM) and the University Health Network (UHN).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting for the organization, ensuring compliance with external requirements.
  • Develop KPIs and driving continuous quality improvement through data insights.
  • Advise on institutional metrics and create reports for key stakeholders, including student enrollment and retention trends, supporting strategic and budget planning.
  • Evaluate institutional effectiveness, support program reviews, and promote data literacy across the organization by providing data-driven insights, ensuring effective data use, and addressing challenges related to data quality and ethics.
  • Develop and implement forecasting models for enrollment and budget planning and monitor sector trends.
  • Stay current on data governance trends and collaborate with stakeholders on creating data frameworks to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders (e.g., Associate Vice-Principal Academic, Academic, Registrar, Director, Continuing Education & International) to develop a data governance framework and advance data literacy across Michener to promote a culture of collaboration
  • Lead CIAP staff, manage performance, training, budget, and ensure alignment with institutional priorities and efficient service delivery.
  • Perform research and analysis for special projects, support funding proposals, and assist with studies related to institutional goals as directed by leadership.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's required (PhD preferred) in a relevant field of study (education, higher education, statistics or social sciences)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in institutional research within higher education or health-related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in guiding and implementing organizational changes
  • Strong understanding of research ethics, cultural sensitivities, and the ability to engage with diverse populations and stakeholders, while considering the implications of diversity in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Adaptable to rapidly changing technologies and methodologies in data management, analytics and research.
  • Proficient in effectively presenting and communicating complex data and findings to diverse audiences, including those without technical expertise.
  • Proven skills in negotiating and collaborating with various stakeholders for resources, priorities, and data access.
  • Strategic yet logical and can easily move between strategy and tactical execution in order to drive results and meet priorities.
  • Satisfactory Canadian Police Clearance document required upon hire.
