Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week
Status: Permanent Full-Time

Position Summary
The Facility Director of the Cell Processing Laboratory will provide leadership and oversight of the entire facility's operations, including program development, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and strategic planning. This position works closely with the CPL Facility Medical Director and programmatic leadership to ensure that the laboratory meets all applicable standards, including FACT accreditation, and operates efficiently while advancing innovation in cellular therapy and processing.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Leadership and Oversight
    • Manage all aspects of the Cell Processing Laboratory, ensuring high-quality, efficient operations that comply with applicable standards, regulations, and institutional policies.
    • In collaboration with CPL Facility Medical Director and programmatic leadership, develop and implement strategic plans for facility growth and advancement in cellular therapy.
  2. Program Development
    • Drive innovation and the adoption of new methodologies and technologies in cellular processing.
    • Oversee the development and validation of protocols and processes, ensuring alignment with the latest scientific advancements and regulatory requirements.
  3. Quality Management and Regulatory Compliance
    • Establish and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management Program (QMP) in accordance with FACT accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct audits, process validations, and quality assessments to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.
    • Ensure all cellular products meet release criteria and regulatory specifications.
  4. Team Management and Development
    • Recruit, train, and mentor laboratory staff, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and professional growth.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and implement continuing education programs for staff, providing overall direction and day-to-day support to the CPL.
  5. Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborate with clinical teams, researchers, and external stakeholders to advance the facility's goals of the cellular therapy program that align with the caner program.
    • Represent the laboratory in institutional meetings, accreditation processes, and professional conferences.
  6. Facility and Resource Management
    • Oversee laboratory equipment, supplies, and resource allocation, ensuring optimal operations and cost-efficiency.
    • Develop and manage the facility's budget, developing and leading overall initiatives to support financial efficiencies and revenue generation.

Qualifications

  • Education: Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g., cellular biology, hematology, or a related discipline).
  • Experience:
    • Extensive experience in cellular therapy, including hematopoietic progenitor cell (HPC) processing, immune effector cell therapy, or related fields.
    • Demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance, quality management, and laboratory operations.
    • Leadership experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting is strongly preferred.
  • Certifications: FACT inspector training or equivalent certification is an advantage.
