The Hand Hygiene Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Infection Prevention and Control Department staff, frontline health care providers and management teams at UHN to ensure that a robust hand hygiene program is established and maintained. The hand hygiene coordinator will be the expert lead in developing and sustaining a the hand hygiene program, overseeing auditor training, providing education and feedback to healthcare workers, managing and reporting audit data, evaluating automated monitoring system (AMS) technologies for hand hygiene compliance measurement and supporting all other aspects of the hand hygiene program. If an AMS technology is implemented, this individual will be the primary UHN resource for educating staff on the use of the technology, data analysis and interpretation. Beyond this, the Hand Hygiene Coordinator will be participating in other patient safety and quality improvement initiatives aimed at preventing hospital-acquired infections, and will perform cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
