Job Description

Position: Cannabis Educator Course Facilitator
Reports to: Continuing Education
Status: Casual (as per Work Agreements)
Length of Contract: 1 year
Site: The Michener Institute

Working with the Continuing Education Department, the CE Integrative Medicine: Cannabis Certificate Program Course Facilitator actively provides support to students registered in online Integrative Medicine: Cannabis Certificate Program.

Position Summary:

  1. Remains current in their subject area; ensuring credentials are maintained
  2. Remains fully familiar with course content, format, resources, all assignments, and grading rubrics
  3. Refreshes course materials on Michener's Learning Management System (LMS) as required by:
    • Adding / replacing resources (articles, texts, etc.) as needed
    • Checking and revising links
    • Incorporating new materials as appropriate (especially videos, etc.)
    • Ensuring materials are consistent with competencies taught
  4. Ensures all materials are accurately posted onto Michener's Learning Management System (LMS) in advance of the course start date
  5. Facilitates live online webinar sessions as required by the course format and materials
  6. Promotes student engagement throughout the course via the discussion board, chat room and/or scheduled webinars as applicable
  7. Monitors student progress, maintains course operations and identifies to the CE department issues that may affect either
  8. Assesses student performance using evaluation rubrics and provides effective feedback
  9. Maintains course quality by ensuring student feedback is reviewed and course changes are made as required
  10. Facilitates workshop sessions following established standards and rubrics
  11. Ensures that Michener's academic and continuing education policies and processes are adhered to by both faculty and students

Qualifications

  • Registered Health Care Professional
  • Relevant education and experience as a Medical Cannabis Educator
  • Knowledge of the subject matter covered in the Certificate program
  • Understanding of and commitment to learner centered education
  • Familiarity with online course pedagogic principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail
  • Excellent problem solving and critical decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of and access to Microsoft Office
  • Ability to implement and evaluate programs through e-learning using the Michener Learning Management System (LMS), virtual learning environment and course management system
