Your opportunity:

The Allen lab is dedicated to developing medical solutions for a range of acute and chronic indications through pioneering innovations in drug delivery. The studies in the Allen lab extend from materials synthesis to formulation preparation and in vitro, and in vivo preclinical evaluation.

The candidate will play a critical role in supporting and conducting the preclinical evaluation of novel drug formulations. This will involve designing and executing pharmacokinetic studies to assess drug disposition following administration, as well as developing and employing analytical assays to quantify drug concentrations in biological samples. The candidate will report directly to Professor Christine Allen and collaborate closely with other members of the Allen lab.

The successful candidate should have experience in HPLC analysis of drugs in biological samples and conducting pre-clinical animal studies, in particular, pharmacokinetics studies.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Recording and tabulating experiment results
  • Analyzing and interpreting experimental data
  • Preparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected
  • Applying established standards when providing animal care
  • Analyzing data collected for publications and/or presentations use
  • Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders
  • Reviewing and assessing requirements needed to meet project timelines
  • Informing Principal Investigator of concerns or setbacks

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in pharmaceutical chemistry or a related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience conducting pre-clinical research in a laboratory setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) methods, especially for quantifying drugs in biological matrices.
  • Experience developing and validating analytical methods for drug quantification in plasma, tissues, and other biological samples.
  • Previous experience maintaining accurate documentation, including detailed protocols and SOPs for preclinical studies.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and data management skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary research teams.
  • Capacity to independently design, execute, troubleshoot, and optimize experimental protocols.


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Hands-on experience performing pharmacokinetic (PK) studies in preclinical animal models.
  • Proven track record in handling and analyzing complex biological samples collected during animal studies.
