As a collaborative and innovative HR professional, the Manager, People & Culture you bring proven experience in the higher education or public sector. You will excel in working closely with leadership, playing a fundamental role in driving HR strategies aligned with organizational goals. With a keen understanding of People Strategy, you're adept at designing and implementing innovative People & Culture programs that drive organizational success. This position is responsible for the administration of People & Culture programs, policies, and initiatives while ensuring compliance with employment legislation, organizational policies, and collective agreements.

You'll supervise a dynamic team, lead key HR functions, and contribute to fostering an equitable workplace culture. Your leadership style is collaborative, and your consulting approach is customer-oriented, helping academic portfolios excel in education and patient care. Core Responsibilities

  • Act as a Trusted advisor to the senior leadership on critical people-related matters which involves evaluating complexity and legal implication of situations and influencing decision-making with comprehensive analysis and recommendations.
  • Lead People & Culture strategies by designing and implementing forward-thinking HR programs that support organizational goals in talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, employee engagement, and change management.
  • Oversee employee and labour relations, ensuring consistent application of policies, compliance with legislation, and fostering a positive and inclusive workplace.
  • Develop policies, enhance performance management systems, and contribute to organizational development initiatives, including training, succession planning, and leadership development.
  • Ensure compliance and best practices by leading efforts to align People & Culture operations with legal requirements, collective agreements, and industry best practices, enhancing organizational resilience.
  • Manage health and safety initiatives, lead investigations, and support employee wellness programs that contribute to a thriving work environment.
  • Leads People & Culture projects as it relates to organizational goals and objectives.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (required).
  • Masters degree in industrial and Labour Relations (an asset).
  • CHRP/CHRL designation (preferred); candidates actively pursuing certification may also be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively complex human resources experience, including a minimum of 3 years of management experience, leading, mentoring, and developing direct reports.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present at the senior level.
  • Deep understanding of HR practices, including employee relations, employee engagement, and HR operations
  • Strong influencing skills that can build credibility with clients based on your knowledge and collaborative style.
  • A demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment; self-motivated, can prioritize well and work comfortably and effectively with multiple deadlines and periods of intense activity
  • Strategic yet logical and can easily move between strategy and tactical execution in order to drive results and meet priorities.
  • Satisfactory Canadian Police Clearance document required upon hire.
