St. Joseph's Health Centre is looking to recruit casual Mammography technologists to join our wonderful team. We are CAR Accredited and an OBSP assessment site. We recently opened our brand new Breast Centre, The Geoffrey H. Wood Centre of Excellence in Breast Cancer Screening and Treatment.

These non-unionized positions are one of a team of technologists, working within our beautifully renovated Breast Centre, delivering high quality services to meet the needs of our referring physicians and patients.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform all mammography technologist responsibilities to ensure a high quality diagnostic result.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Consult with the radiologist, and other interprofessional team members as required.
  • Assist in inventory control, including ordering and restocking of supplies.
  • Assist radiologist with biopsies and other procedures as required.
  • Ensures the care provided is safe, appropriate, tailored, timely, and maximizes the potential of the available equipment and resources
  • Demonstrates commitment to patient and family-centered approach to care
  • Respects patient rights and needs, and foster an environment that encourages the patients involvement in their own care. This commitment is extended to patients from all cultures and backgrounds, ensuring all are treated with dignity, equity and respect.
  • Shares their knowledge and expertise collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team, such as both staff and students, both internally and externally in a positive manner that promotes an inclusive environment
  • Participates in quality control, assurance and improvement programs
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills with the ability to manage competing demands
  • Monitors patient status and responds to any change in condition, to ensure patient safety and comfort
  • Organizes, prioritizes and co-ordinates scheduling of procedures, communicates verbally with appropriate personnel regarding procedure details, equipment failures, policies and procedures
  • Must be able to work independently and without supervision
  • Other duties as assigned and required for operational purposes
  • Shifts include days, evenings and weekends.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Registered with CMRITO required.
  • Recent experience as a Mammography Technologist required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • CAMRT registration an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal/written), and organizational skills
  • Understanding and commitment to the Hospital's Mission and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to handle stress and conflict management in a professional, effective manner
  • Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and accurately, both autonomously and as an effective team member
  • Ability to meet patient, family and staff needs in an efficient manner
  • Committed to meeting the goals and objectives of the department
  • Must be flexible, punctual and have an excellent attendance record
  • Commitment to continuing education required
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, set priorities, and manage time effectively
