Nuclear Medicine Technologist MI Nuclear Med (Job ID: 4895)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all Nuclear Medicine procedures to produce imaging, and high quality diagnostic studies via practice of radiation safety procedures and adherence to a strict code of aseptic techniques.
  • Performs cardiac stress test
  • Follows ALARA principal and adheres to CNSC guidelines and regulations.
  • Follows established guidelines for dispensing, administering and disposing of radioactive substances.
  • Performs Quality Assurance procedures as set by departmental standards.
  • Performs area wipe tests, contamination monitoring and decontaminations.
  • Provides optimum patient care and demonstrates a professional manner in the work setting.
  • Actively participates in team building concepts, and development of departmental goals.
  • Participates in teaching and training students and hospital employees, and communicates with Clinical Coordinator on student progress/problems.
  • Organizes, prioritizes and co-ordinates scheduling of procedures, communicates verbally with appropriate personnel re: procedure types, equipment failures, policies and procedures.
  • Assists, instructs, and educates patients prior to, during, and after procedure.
  • Assists in maintaining records, data entry in NMIS and PACS archives/retrieves.
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Registration and good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
  • CPR or BCLS certification mandatory.
  • Recent Hot Lab experience (i.e. preparing radiopharmaceutical kits).
  • Completion of ECG courses an asset.
  • Completion of PET courses an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal/written), and organization skills.
  • Understanding and commitment to the Hospital's Mission and Values.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle stress and conflict management in a professional, effective manner.
  • Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and accurately, both autonomously and as an effective team member.
  • Ability to meet patient/staff needs in an efficient manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, and set priorities, managing time effectively.
  • Commitment to meet the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
  • Must be eager and self motivated to learn new techniques. Completion of cross sectional anatomy course an asset.
  • Must be flexible, punctual and have an excellent attendance record.
  • Ability to work all shifts assigned.

HOURS: Monday to Friday as per operational need.
