Nuclear Medicine Technologist MI Nuclear Med (Job ID: 4895)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs all Nuclear Medicine procedures to produce imaging, and high quality diagnostic studies via practice of radiation safety procedures and adherence to a strict code of aseptic techniques.
- Performs cardiac stress test
- Follows ALARA principal and adheres to CNSC guidelines and regulations.
- Follows established guidelines for dispensing, administering and disposing of radioactive substances.
- Performs Quality Assurance procedures as set by departmental standards.
- Performs area wipe tests, contamination monitoring and decontaminations.
- Provides optimum patient care and demonstrates a professional manner in the work setting.
- Actively participates in team building concepts, and development of departmental goals.
- Participates in teaching and training students and hospital employees, and communicates with Clinical Coordinator on student progress/problems.
- Organizes, prioritizes and co-ordinates scheduling of procedures, communicates verbally with appropriate personnel re: procedure types, equipment failures, policies and procedures.
- Assists, instructs, and educates patients prior to, during, and after procedure.
- Assists in maintaining records, data entry in NMIS and PACS archives/retrieves.
- Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Registration and good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
- CPR or BCLS certification mandatory.
- Recent Hot Lab experience (i.e. preparing radiopharmaceutical kits).
- Completion of ECG courses an asset.
- Completion of PET courses an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal/written), and organization skills.
- Understanding and commitment to the Hospital's Mission and Values.
- Demonstrated ability to handle stress and conflict management in a professional, effective manner.
- Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and accurately, both autonomously and as an effective team member.
- Ability to meet patient/staff needs in an efficient manner.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work, and set priorities, managing time effectively.
- Commitment to meet the goals and objectives of the department.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
- Must be eager and self motivated to learn new techniques. Completion of cross sectional anatomy course an asset.
- Must be flexible, punctual and have an excellent attendance record.
- Ability to work all shifts assigned.
HOURS: Monday to Friday as per operational need.
