Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $63.05 - $75.27 per hour (start rate in accordance with collective agreement)
Status: Permanent Full-Time

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the Pencer Brain Tumor Centre will function in an advanced nursing role, demonstrating a high level of autonomy and expert skill in managing care for patients with brain tumors. This role will combine clinical, educational, and leadership responsibilities to optimize patient care, ensure access to supportive services, and lead multidisciplinary care initiatives.

The successful candidate will:

  • Act as a clinical expert and resource for patients, families, and referring institutions, offering support and counselling as needed.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in CNS multidisciplinary rounds to formulate and implement care plans.
  • Facilitate patient access to specialized treatments and enrollment in clinical trials and relevant programs.
  • Lead patient-centered initiatives, including the development and maintenance of patient and caregiver educational resources.
  • Lead The Pencer Centre Patient & Family Advisory Committee and Pencer Centre's supportive care programs, incorporating virtual and in-person services.
  • Participate in the development of the weekly Adolescent & Young Adult (AYA) clinic and other specialized services.
  • Engage in quality improvement projects and research activities, contributing to advancements in brain tumor care.

Other responsibilities will include academic and leadership activities, including delivering, coordinating and participating in research, education and professional development activities.

The NP will report directly to the Director of Professional Practice, PM.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Master's degree in Nursing required.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Extended Class (NP - Adult or NP - Primary Health Care).
  • Experience in oncology or brain tumor care preferred.
  • Expertise in palliative care, neuro-oncology, or rehabilitation nursing an asset.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and collaborative practice skills.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and manage complex clinical situations.
  • Experience in quality improvement and program development preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated sensitivity to patient and family needs.
  • Proficiency in information technology and virtual care platforms.
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations (e.g., Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology) preferred.
