Job Description

Hours: 9-5
Salary:
$51.54 to $64.43​​​​​​​
Shifts: Monday to Friday with very rare occasional weekends
Status: Temporary Full Time for one year and with opportunity to extend contract and/or become Permanent position

We are the first clinic in Canada to offer the diagnosis and management of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and other similar neurological conditions. We utilize a combination of research, clinical care and the latest evidence-based medicine and technology to advance care for our patients. Our multidisciplinary team is made up of a group of expert neurologists, nurses, coordinators and administrators. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team to help further advance understanding and management of PSP and other complex neurodegenerative diseases.

Duties include and not limited to:

  • Engaging in evidence-informed practice by critically appraising and applying research and best practice guidelines, and performing research activities.
  • Coordinating and participating in various research activities including performing rating scales and completing questionnaires.
  • Utilizing and demonstrating advanced knowledge and decision making skills to conduct comprehensive assessments and procedures including obtaining blood work, lumber punctures and skin biopsies.
  • Conducting patient interviews, medical history, comprehensive physical examination and other factors affecting patient needs.
  • Managing the care of patients and identifying opportunities for improving patient care.
  • Planning and implementing strategies for quality improvements and to promote health.
  • Participating in program development and decision-making processes on issues that impact the research and the clinical setting.
  • Performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) Adult or Primary Care certificate complete
  • Current certification of registration and in good standing with College of Nurses of Ontario and eligible for extended class licensure
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Neurological patient care experience preferred
  • Experience in nursing research methodology an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal and customer services skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent decision making, problem recognition and critical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Program planning and evaluation methodology skills

  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner
  • Ability to utilize information technology, in particular patient electronic health record systems
