Job Description

Department: Endoscopy
Reports to: Manager
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $44.51 - $55.64 per hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Shifts: Mon-Fri 8:00am - 4:00pm
Status: Permanent Full-Time
Closing Date: November 7, 2024


Position Summary

The PATIENT CARE COORDINATOR acts as a resource for the interprofessional team. This position will play a leadership role by mentoring and providing direction, ongoing development and preceptorship to team members.

Duties

  • Performing financial/administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient and effective unit operation
  • Contributing to staff development by promoting and ensuring a supportive/collaborative learning environment within the service(s)/cluster area based on the principles of adult learning and practice standards for nurses, students and ancillary staff
  • Performing human resources responsibilities in collaboration with the nurse manager
  • Liaising with members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure high standards of quality and optimal management of patient care outcomes
  • Liaising with external partners and vendors
  • Supply management, monitoring and ordering of disposable supplies
  • Performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned or requested.
  • Maintaining unit flow of procedures, volumes, and resources
  • Ongoing continuous improvement and project management practices to strengthen clinic processes
  • Performing financial/administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient and effective site operation
  • Liaising with members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure high standards of quality and optimal management of patient care outcomes (including data collection/reporting)

Qualifications

  • At minimum, a completion of BScN Baccalaureate in Nursing required, Masters preferred
  • Current certificate of competency (licensure) from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program Level II
  • Five years tertiary Perioperative Nursing experience
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience
  • Two years of in-charge experience required
  • Demonstrated ability towards team building and collaboration
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
  • Demonstrated initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated excellence in decision making and problem solving skills
  • Clinical and patient teaching skills
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
  • Compliance with confidentiality requirements
  • Demonstrated membership within a professional nursing association and/or nursing interest groups related to practice
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent Attendance Record
  • Previous Endoscopy and/or Cystoscopy experience preferred
  • Three (3) years nursing experience, including experience as required by area of responsibility and experience working in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience with project management and/or Lean process improvement an asset
  • Excellent skills in recognizing, analyzing and resolving problems
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
  • Adapts to and implements change and facilitates its acceptance by others
