Pharmacy Site Manager (Job ID: 6315)

Unity Health Toronto (UHT) is recruiting a highly motivated, fulltime permanent Pharmacy Site Manager. This challenging and rewarding position will complement our UHT Pharmacy leadership team and is well suited for individuals who are highly motivated, dynamic, and results-oriented to manage day-to-day operations of the site pharmacy within an academic health sciences network.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Serves as the point of leadership and accountability for pharmacy staff within the site
  • Oversee site dispensary operations and medication system to ensure a safe, efficient, cost effective, and quality system that meets regulatory and external standards
  • Lead in recruitment, orientation, supervision, and performance management of clinical pharmacists, technicians, and other pharmacy team members
  • Lead and evaluate process improvements in collaboration with pharmacy team members
  • Maintains awareness of published literature and current developments in medication systems/ technology/ processes, supports development of proposals/ business cases, and assist in managing the implementation of new systems/ services in the professional operations domain in collaboration with pharmacy and other leaders especially where it leads to safety/quality improvement
  • Lead and/or participates in committees and other initiatives pertaining to pharmacy, corporate medication systems safety, Hospital accreditation, and OCP inspections
  • Lead in team building to provide a safe, motivating, diverse and inclusive working environment that seeks to retain/engage staff and motivate them to perform at a high level while ensuring all proper training is provided
  • In collaboration with other Pharmacy managers, be accountable for the financial health of the site operations and adapt to changing departmental and/or corporate needs and goals

Qualifications:

  • Registered as a Pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (Part A).
  • An advanced degree in pharmacy or other relevant field (e.g. Doctor of Pharmacy or Masters of Business Administration/ Health Administration) is highly desirable
  • Five to eight years of clinical/ pharmacy practice experience in a hospital environment, demonstrating progressive degrees of leadership, including supervisory experience, and including experience in the domains of quality/ process improvement, medication management, and medication safety
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, conflict management, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Hospital Accreditation and OCP inspections
  • Excellent skills in organization, critical analysis, creative problem solving, change management, and able to meet deadlines and achieve deliverables.
  • Excellent communication (written / verbal, presentation), facilitation, persuasion, and negotiation skills especially with other disciplines such as nursing and medicine
  • Computer application skills and preferably experience with CPOE system
