Physiotherapist 2M Orthopaedics (Job ID: 7707)
Seeking a Physiotherapist with excellent communication interpersonal and critical thinking skills who is comfortable working in a fast paced inpatient orthopedic surgical setting. Reporting to the Patient Care Manager Inpatient Orthopedics Unit, Fracture Clinic and Outpatient Rehabilitation this full time role will be primarily responsible for providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment recommendations for Orthopedic and General Surgery inpatients and Orthopedic surgical day patients in the Surgery program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary role of the Physiotherapist is in the assessment and management of physical impairments or disabilities with the aim of enhancing and restoring functional abilities and quality of life
Physiotherapy services will include assessment treatment, consultation, discharge planning and education to patients family members/caregivers and external agencies
Works effectively as a member of an interprofessional team collaborating with other disciplines to provide comprehensive patient care and complex discharge planning
Identifies and addresses educational needs for patients and their families
Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development in order to continue to provide optimal patient care
Provides patient care in accordance with all professional and organizational standards
Contributes to the academic mandate of the organization as an educator resource or support for staff students and members of the academic and professional community
QUALIFICATIONS:
Registered in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO) require
Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy required
Master's Degree preferred
Must be rostered (or willing to roster prior to the end of the probationary period) with the CPO to perform the following activities:
· Administering a Substance by Inhalation
· Tracheal Suctioning
BLS required (or willingness to complete within probationary period)
1-2 years inpatient surgery experience preferred
Excellent communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
Proven flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
Excellent time management
organizational and prioritization skills as relates to patient care
Demonstrated effectiveness as an interprofessional team member
Demonstrated ability to work with the Rehabilitation Assistants
Demonstrated commitment to and involvement with own profession (e.g. professional association) preferred
Satisfactory attendance record
Be willing to work flexible later hours - negotiable
