As an integral member of the UHN FM-PRO Planning & Integration Team, the PROJECT MANAGER is responsible for planning capital renewal projects from initiation through detailed design under the direction of the Manager, Capital Renewal.

The principal responsibilities include:

  • Acquiring and leveraging deep knowledge of the hospital's infrastructure to effectively plan and coordinate delivery of multiple small and large scale capital renewal project plans.
  • Overseeing the assessment of existing infrastructure, equipment, and systems to identify areas that require renewal, repair, or replacement.
  • Developing capital renewal plans for assigned projects: justifies proposed capital projects; risk and sensitivity analysis; establishes functional requirements in consultation with various stakeholders and consultants; identifies success measurement standards; identifies technical resources and seeks assistance or information and input as needed; coordinates administrative activities to facilitate project funding; develops project scope, schedule and budget.
  • Developing requirements for consultant tenders and contracts; evaluate and recommend selection of consultants; direct and manage consultants performing feasibility studies and design development for assigned projects.
  • Coordinating activities and fostering relationships within the Planning & Integration team and with other FM-PRO divisions, internal UHN partners, clinical programs, and external consultants.
  • Communicating effectively: detailed and tactful in managing stakeholder expectations with experience leading the development of conceptual ideas.
  • Performing other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned or requested to contribute to the efficient functioning of the Capital Renewal Planning portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree program in engineering, or recognized equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years of practical and related experience in the consulting and/or construction industry is required
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building technical codes and standards applicable to acute health care environments
  • Experience with administration of ACEC and OAA contracts and supplementary contract documents
  • Demonstrated ability to read construction contract documents including drawings and specifications
  • Experience operating in an open public tendering environment and Knowledge of Broader Public Sector Procurement Directives and Supply Chain Guidelines is a definite asset
  • Computer literacy and the ability to use Microsoft Office applications required
