Job Description

Site: Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto Western Hospital. Travel to other UHN sites may be required.

Hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: $95,862 to $119,828 annually (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)

Position Summary

The Digital Project Management Office (PMO) team plans and implements key strategic Digital programs and projects to deliver outcomes benefiting UHN and the health system. We apply best practices for managing projects, change, and risk to ensure high quality deliverables, effective coordination of resources, and transparent progress reporting. Members of the PMO work in close partnership with a broad range of stakeholders, bringing the right teams together to streamline the demand, end-to-end delivery, and operational services in order to mobilize change and achieve value.

An exciting opportunity is available to showcase your talents as a Project Manager on Project Aspire - a multi-year project to build a new state-of-the-art 15-storey surgical and patient tower at the Toronto Western Hospital, enabled by digital solutions.

You will be a part of the Digital team planning and implementing leading-edge information, communication, and automation technology (ICAT) which benefits both patients and clinicians. Examples of solutions include network infrastructure, building management systems, real-time location systems (RTLS), integrated bedside terminals (IBT) for smart patient rooms, audio/visual systems, and expansion of UHN's core health information and business applications throughout. This position will require accountability to lead projects independently by applying project management best practices, building relationships, and delivering sustained value.

Duties

  • Create detailed project charters, plans and schedules in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders to establish project scope, schedule, budget, accountabilities, risk, monitoring and controls, and post project audit/evaluation as part of a program roadmap
  • Apply rigorous project management, change management, and effective communication across the project lifecycle to manage schedule and milestones using appropriate tools, anticipating and troubleshooting issues to minimize the hospital's exposure to risk
  • Manage and maintain project budget and other project documentation following project management best practices
  • Collaborate with Digital and business areas to prioritize upcoming projects, develop project budgets and ensure available resources
  • Deliver progress reports, requirements documentation, and presentations to project stakeholders, sponsors and executive-level leaders
  • Manage procurement of goods and services, vendor contracts, relationships and delivery
  • Apply breakthrough design ideation, integrating emerging technologies, and incorporating subject matter expertise and data-driven evidence to create holistic solutions that meet business requirements and establish best practices and standards
  • Collaborate and facilitate requirements gathering, testing and solution implementation within a multi-disciplinary team environment, including executives, managers, clinicians, business teams, technical stakeholders and vendors
  • Drive business insight and demonstrate benefits of implemented initiatives to the organization by applying sound data analysis, data quality, data reporting and visualization
  • Effectively implement and sustain organizational change by applying rigorous change management and communication practices
  • Facilitate development of operational model and plans for transitioning to a sustainable state
  • Coach and manage project teams

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years project management experience or equivalent required
  • Undergraduate Degree required in Health Informatics or Administration, Technology, Science, Business, or related field required. Masters degree an asset
  • Experience leading end-to-end application, system interfacing/interoperability and IT infrastructure projects required
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams
  • Strong analytical, prioritization and organization skills, with attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent required Experience with (technical) use case review and systems integration an asset
  • Knowledge of nurse call and system complexity an asset
  • Familiarity with healthcare information systems, interfaces, HL7, ITIL, and/or enterprise architecture an asset
  • Experience with cyber security and privacy regulations an asset
  • Experience or knowledge using Epic an asset
  • Experience with referral workflows/systems and provincial projects an asset
  • Other certification (Lean/Six-Sigma Black Belt, ITIL, IIBA, Change Management) an asset
  • Proficiency with installation of RTLS systems in a healthcare environment preferred
  • Understanding of IT/OT/IOT preferred
  • Experience in formal procurement processes, contract negotiations, and vendor management preferred
  • Supervisory or managerial experience preferred
