Hours: 37.5 hours per week

As a member of the UHN FM-PRO Redevelopment team, the PROJECT MANAGER manages, organizes and orchestrates construction projects from planning transition through implementation to project close-out. Under the direction of Senior Manager (Facilities Capital Re the principle responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies to effectively manage the user group consultation process; performing financial management activities; preparing schedules and specifications; preparing contracts and negotiating revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and contractors; hiring and supervising the activities of contractors, subcontractors and / or trades people; performing quality management responsibilities; performing administrative and financial management responsibilities to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the department; performing cross functional duties as assigned and / or requested; performing other duties consistent with the job classification.

The principal responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to facilitate the cost effective and timely execution of multiple, simultaneous, medium and large scale base building infrastructure renewal projects;
  • Actively engaging and managing project team members including consultants, contractors, suppliers and vendors, and internal partners;
  • Managing client and stakeholder expectations including effective communication and issues resolution;
  • Actively monitoring the progress and quality of work associated with project outcomes;
  • Performing financial responsibilities such as defining project costs, cash flows and monitoring budget activity;
  • Performing other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned or requested to contribute to the efficient functioning of the Redevelopment Projects portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Experience in construction management, contract administration or consulting engineering particularly as owner's representative required
  • Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years related practical experience
  • Demonstrated ability to read construction contract documents including drawings and specifications, administration of CCDC, ACEC and OAA contracts and supplementary contract documents required
  • Completion of an undergraduate Experience with mechanical, electrical or building envelope infrastructure design or construction, ideally in an institutional or public sector environment, is an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building technical codes and standards applicable to acute health care environments as asset
  • Degree program in construction management, engineering, or recognized equivalent an asset
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification an asset.
  • CET, E.I.T. or P.Eng. an asset
  • Knowledge of Broader Public Sector Procurement Directives and Supply Chain Guidelines an asset
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills required.
  • Excellent problem recognition and resolution skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail required.
  • Excellent analytical skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office applications required.
