Position Summary
The Medical Surgical Intensive care unit at TGH is a 38 bed level 3 critical care unit providing care to approximately 1000 patients annually with complex medical and surgical conditions who require advanced ventilatory and hemodynamic support.

As a member of the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit, the principle responsibilities of the REGISTERED NURSE include: assessment - systematically collecting data about the health of the patient for initial screening, on-going or selected in-depth assessment in order to determine diagnosis; planning - identifying priorities, target dates, strategies or interventions in order to contribute to the individualized care plan and achieving optimal outcome for the patient; implementation - safely and effectively performing the strategies and intervention directed by the care plan; evaluation - systematically evaluating the extent to which the best possible outcomes have been achieved; providing educational guidance to the patient group; documenting patient records; acting as patient advocate by protecting and promoting patient rights; performing other duties consistent with the job classification as required.
