Job Description

Union: Non-Union, Independent Contractor
Department: Al & Malka Artist's Health Center
Site: Toronto Western Hospital
Reports to: Manager
Work Model: Hybrid
Hours: 10 - 15 hours per week
Salary: Per Visit Basis ($95 per 50 min session)
Shifts: Weekdays, 9.00am - 5.00pm, with possibility of evening shifts.
Status: Temporary Part Time (1 year)
Closing Date: December 9, 2024

The Al & Malka Green Artists' Health Centre is part of the Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University Health Network. Our mandate includes research, education and engagement in the arts community, while striving to understand the health needs of artists to provide evidence-based, artist-centered care. The Centre's health team offers integrated care to professional artists of all disciplines, and to arts students and educators. The Centre is the only clinic of its kind in Canada that specializes in addressing the specific health care needs of artists, providing a holistic and collaborative approach to health. Duties

  • Committed to an evidence-based approach when counselling individuals, groups and couples
  • Leverage formal training or certification in CBT, EFT, DBT, somatic, experiential, and humanistic therapys

As an independent contractor, payment terms are calculated based on a per-visit basis and invoiced on a bi-weekly basis to the clinic. As an integral member of the Al & Malka Green Artists Health Centre, psychotherapists work both independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team to provide mental health services.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Master's Degree in Health or Social Sciences preferred or at minimum, completion of a Bachelor's degree program in Health or Social Sciences, with 3 or more years of practical and related experience
  • Member in good standing of appropriate regulated health professions College (including Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario)
  • Additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from a recognized institution and with 2 or more years of practical and related experiences of practical experience in the use of CBT preferred or practical and related experience in the use of CBT including a period of supervision/mentorship with an experienced clinician
  • Post professional training in group facilitation and group/individual counseling preferred
  • Experience providing psychotherapeutic assessments and structured psychotherapy treatment for individuals presenting with a wide range of mental health conditions
  • Clinical competence to provide structured psychotherapy in the areas of trauma, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, and/or addictions
  • Experience with supporting clients with disabilities/injuries as a result of workplace or auto-related accidents including concussions and chronic pain
  • Experience in providing group and individual psychotherapy required
  • Additional training and experience in other specific interventions preferred (e.g. DBT, ACT, Mindfulness)
  • Experience providing services via information and communication technology (e.g. telehealth/telemedicine) preferred
  • Experience with return to work plans preferred
  • Training/certification in crisis intervention an asset
  • Experience with case management an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to producing detailed, high quality assessment and treatment reports and clinical documentation
  • Able to communicate and work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment and willingness to accept clinical direction
  • Strong computer literacy skills
