Reports to: Director, Research & Evaluation
Work Model: On site, some hybrid
Grade: N0:05
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $59,904 - $74,880 per year or $30.72 - $38.40 per hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Shifts: Monday to Friday
Status: Temporary Full-Time (2-year contract)
Closing Date: October 25, 2024

Position Summary
As an integral member of the Cancer Education Program, The Research Analyst II exercises moderate judgement and decision-making in utilizing established policies and procedures to determine work methods and resolve problems. This may include:

  • Conducting literature searches/reviews;
  • Drafting manuscripts,
  • Coordinating necessary data flow with collaborators from other departments;
  • Maintaining regulatory documents;
  • Generating reports and conducting statistical analyses (using Excel, SPSS, R) as required;
  • Assisting in the preparation of submissions to the Research Ethics Board;
  • Function as a resource in planning, implementing and evaluating a full range of programs and services that support research and scholarly activities, recruiting patients and family members to studies, and data entry

The Research Analyst II must be able to communicate and liaise effectively with patients and their family members, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and other staff throughout UHN as well as with outside groups such as supportive care organizations. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills and be an excellent writer. Performing cross-functional duties as assigned or requested and performing other duties consistent with the job classification as required.

Qualifications

  • At minimum, a completion of a Bachelor's Degree program, or recognized equivalent in a Health or Science-Related Discipline
  • At minimum, three (3) years related experience in a health-related field or equivalent combination of education/experience related to health promotion, health policy, health education or communication
  • Familiarity with theories of health behaviour, health literacy and plain language
  • Demonstrates excellent competency in written and verbal communications
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods an asset.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use tact and discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Experience using statistical analysis and data management software applications, required
  • Ability to apply a range of fundamental research principles, theories, concepts and techniques relating to data collection and management
  • May assist in the preparation of submissions to the Research Ethics Board
  • Ability to manage competing demands of short and long-term projects, independently coordinating and prioritizing relevant projects, tasks and responsibilities
  • Knowledge of research regulations and guidelines, preferred (such as ICH/GCP, Tri-Council Policy, Declaration of Helsinki, PHIPA)
  • Experience developing, and working according to, SOPs
  • Certification as a Clinical Research Professional an asset
