Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $70,941 - $88,686 annually (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Shifts: Monday - Friday
Status: Permanent Full-Time

Position Summary
The Princess Margaret Genomics Centre is seeking a full-time Research Technician III, with potential for advancement within the PMGC team. As an integral member at the Genomics Centre, a core facility, the Research Technician must possess advanced skills and experience, be dedicated and result-driven, and will be involved in all aspects of service projects, following SOPs and meeting target deadlines. This role supports cutting edge bulk genomics and single cell genomics assays.

Duties
Working under the direction of senior PMGC management, the successful applicant will utilize SOPs to:

  • Perform DNA methylation assays (Biomodal)
  • Perform single cell methylation assays (Scale Biosciences)
  • Perform single cell combinatorial indexing transcriptional profiling assays (Parse Biosciences and Scale Biosciences)
  • Perform advanced project consultation and support to clients
  • Assist PMGC management in project pricing
  • Enter sample and library information into LIMS

Qualifications

  • Minimum of BSc in genomics, molecular biology or related discipline with 6 years of experience is required
  • Advanced knowledge of the following:
    • PCR reaction set up and purification
    • qPCR reaction assembly and data interpretation
    • Nucleic acid quantification by spectrophotometry and fluorimetry
    • Sequencing library construction or similar workflows
  • Experience with using LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) is an asset
  • Experience with Illumina DNA sequencing library construction workflows is an asset
  • Experience with nuclei extraction from cells and tissue is an asset
  • A willingness to learn new techniques and technologies is required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills is required
  • Ability to work independently and accurately under deadlines is required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment is required
