The Senior Analyst, Health Policy is an integral member of the Emerging Guidelines and Programs team and plays an essential role working on emerging and health-equity focused programs and policies, including the development of recommendations to inform evidence-based policies on gender affirming surgical care. The Senior Analyst, Health Policy will also be involved in supporting the day to day work of the clinical and scientific leadership for the program.

Here is what you will be doing:

  • Develops needs assessments, jurisdictional scans, policy briefs, options analyses and impact assessments to create program policies and guidance

  • Supports the Clinical Lead, Gender-Affirming Care and other clinical and clinical and scientific leads and external consultants who provide guidance and thought leadership for the program (examples include developing materials for lead presentations and obtaining expert input to support decision making)

  • Monitors, collates and synthesizes information on evidence, including clinical evidence, trends and best practices to facilitate planning and decision making

  • Organizes and supports both internal and external working groups or advisory committees involved in policy development and program design

  • Manages multiple projects concurrently

  • Provides management and stakeholders with programmatic/status updates, feedback and appropriate reporting on projects

  • Develops and presents material for review and informational purposes using excellent written, verbal, and graphical communications skills, with ability to express complex concepts effectively

  • Has well-rounded expertise and helps facilitate complex project interdependencies between projects and with key partners

  • Takes efficient and prompt action to resolve problems

  • Works for consensus and contributes to achievement of team/group goals

  • Upholds the importance of core values and organizational culture

  • Approaches problems proactively and recommends thorough and practical solutions to a wide range of complex problems

  • Performs cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree in health sciences, health administration or a related field is required

  • A master's degree in health sciences, health administration or a related field is preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience formulating policy and working on policy initiatives, assessing impacts and conducting environmental scans and options analyses

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully execute on multiple large-scale, complex, high-risk projects, ideally within a cross-functional structure

  • Demonstrated knowledge of health equity, 2SLGBTQIA+ health, Indigenous cultural safety, anti-racism and anti-oppression practice An understanding of Ontario's healthcare system including primary care, with particular emphasis on population and public health approaches, theory and practice

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare briefing notes, reports, policy papers and evidence summaries

  • Strong relationship-building skills, with demonstrated experience engaging and building relationships and consensus among diverse stakeholders

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organization and time management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision
