Job Description

Summer student position to support the following study: Proteomic profiling to predicted left ventricular recovery in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).

Work Model: Hybrid
Grade: A0:90
Hours: 35
Salary: 17.20 - $20.30 per hour. Start rate non-negotiable. (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Shifts: Monday to Friday
Status: Temporary Full-time
Closing Date: March 3rd, 2025

Job Details:

The student will work to collect patient level data for patients with heart failure that have had recovery of the heart function over a period of a year. This data will be inputted into a REDCAp database in a systematic manner.

The student will also be assisting in the analysis of the proteomic and clinical data to help define predictors of left ventricular recovery in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.

Educational Objectives:

  1. To learn the importance of quality patient-level data collection using electronic medical records and REDcap databases

  2. To annotate proteomic data for analysis

  3. To learn how to federate high-level data from several sources

  4. To define what proteins/clinical parameters predict recovery of left ventricular function in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.

Proposed deliverables at the end of the placement:

  1. Data collection of patient variables into REDcap

  2. Federation of proteomics and patients level databases

  3. Preliminary analysis to identify predictors (proteins/clinical data) for LV recovery.

Qualifications

Education and experience required:

  1. Undergraduate level education
  2. Experience with data collection
  3. Experience with using databases is an asset.
  4. Student must be enrolled full time
  5. Student must be legally able to work in Canada full time during the position
