Job Description

Union: NOWU Clerical
Site: Princess Margaret Cancer Centre
Department: Outpatient Clinics - Gynecology
Reports to: Nurse Manager
Work Model: On-Site
Grade: SN:16
Wage Range: $24.92 - 26.87 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable and in accordance with collective agreement requirements)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: Mon-Fri; 8:30-16:30
Status: Temporary Full-Time (4-6 Months Contract)
Closing Date: January 23, 2025

Job Summary

The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre has 12 site groups and 26 specialty clinics, and almost 3,000 staff who see over 400,000 patient visits every year. Its 800,000 square feet house 130 inpatient beds, 373,000 square feet of research space and 17 radiation treatment machines, making it one of the largest comprehensive cancer treatment facilities in the world and the largest radiation treatment centre in Canada.

Duties

The Support Partner is a member of Outpatient Clinics team who provides assistance to direct patient caregivers through the performance of specific activities related to:

Maintenance of the Clinic:

  • Restocking, cleaning, disinfecting, and transporting instruments and medical devices to and from MDRD;
  • Setting up clinic areas;
  • Turn over exam rooms;

Patients support activities:

  • Assisting clinical staff with patient related activities;
  • Acting as a chaperone during patient intimate examinations;

Environmental support activities;

Transportation support activities;

Other duties directly related with the proper maintenance of the Clinic.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a secondary school diploma program
  • Experience with housekeeping, portering and/or unit aide
  • Evidence of ability to lift heavy objects
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Evidence of good independent initiative
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Previous Hospital experience
  • Experience in a teaching hospital environment preferred
