Technologist Vascular Ultrasound Vascular Lab (Job ID: 7950)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The primary role of the Vascular Sonographer is delivery of diagnostic testing services to both in-patients and ambulatory clients
  • Perform a full range of arterial and venous ultrasound studies and physiologic tests on a daily basis
  • Obtain appropriate clinical history for all studies and analyze together with previously gathered patient information to accurately select the most appropriate study protocol
  • Interpret and document both urgent and non-urgent results, provide preliminary reports and consult with referring physician and/or vascular surgeons
  • Able to work effectively as a member of an interprofessional team, collaborating with other disciplines to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Contributes to the academic mandate of the organization as an educator, resource or support for staff, students and members of the academic and professional community
  • Identifies and addresses educational needs for patients and their families
  • Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development in order to continue to provide optimal patient care
  • Is committed to, and participates in, ongoing quality improvement in the organization
  • Provides patient care in accordance with all professional and organizational standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) required
  • Current registration as a Sonographer with Sonography Canada and/or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)required
  • Registered as a Canadian Registered Vascular Sonographer (CRVS) with Sonography Canada and/or a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required - if not held at time of hire/transfer, must be willing to successfully complete the course and associated registration within 8 months of hire/transfer
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Knowledge of anatomy, hemodynamics, physiology and pathophysiology in order to generate an accurate and comprehensive diagnostic report
  • Recent duplex scanning experience preferred
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to and involvement with own profession, e.g. attending rounds and conferences
  • This position will end on December 5, 2025.
