ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST

The Toronto Grace Health Centre (TGHC) provides specialized care and services to those individuals who require Complex Continuing Care, Post Acute Care Rehabilitation, Palliative Care, and Transitional Care. The care and services provided at TGHC help facilitate the patient flow through the health care system and ensures recovery to those individuals who may return to their homes or to Long Term Care (LTC) facilities in their communities. Our outpatient clinic sees approximately 10,000 patients per year and is growing. Clinics include rheumatology, respirology, infectious diseases, geriatrics, pulmonary function testing, bone mineral density testing, pulmonary rehabilitation, and primary care.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for ensuring patient identification, safety and preparation are correct prior to a scan while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Greets patient, explain forthcoming tests, position and prepares the patient for their examination.

Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures in the department, in accordance with applicable legislation, clinical standards and departmental procedures.

Operate ultrasound equipment effectively to capture high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.

Analyze images and provide preliminary findings to physicians while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Ensure proper protocols are followed to report critical findings to the clinic physicians.

Ensure all quality control assessments are performed as required. Takes all reasonable precautions and work in compliance with related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices.

Confirm procedures for proper equipment maintenance are completed in accordance with clinic standards.

Ensure all equipment is well maintained and in good working order.

Assists in maintaining inventory of required supplies.

Ensure open communication across teams in order to ensure best possible patient care is provided at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program.

Current registration with the CMRITO and fulfilling the annual required continuing education as per CMRITO.

Recent related technologist experience required.

Vascular/Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) experience preferred.

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSK) experience preferred.

Proficiency with Philips Affiniti units and Velox PACS preferred.

Demonstration of strong personal, professional and business ethics.

Proven level of self-motivation, strong work ethic, initiative and reliability.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills with a well-developed patient service focus.

Effective problem-solving skills, critical thinking and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced clinic environment.

Strong relationship management skills, including the ability and desire to collaborate with others as well as build strong and positive relationships with other members of the team.

Ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Demonstration of a high degree of discretion.

Flexible and adaptable.

Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

Demonstrated leadership qualities, and the ability to make independent decisions, displaying a high level of initiative.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record required.
