Reporting to the Director of Diagnostic Imaging, the RIS/PACS Specialist is responsible for providing radiological support services regarding the Radiology Information System (RIS), the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), and other related applications, ensuring efficient workflows and maintaining the integrity of imaging and reporting data

Responsibilities:
• Maintain accuracy and precision in processing applications and programs as dictated by the Hospital Information and Radiology Information Systems (HIS/RIS), and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
• Support related applications and platforms, including but not limited to, the Speech Recognition Reporting System, Diagnostic Imaging Repository (DIR), and Wait Times Information System (WTIS)
• Ensure the accurate storage, retrieval, and transmission of medical images across integrated systems
• Manage and support modality/workstation/system updates and refreshes, including but not limited to, procurement, installation, integration testing and troubleshooting
• Assist the Director in meeting the clinical needs of physicians and staff, as well as developing strategies to integrate and maintain diagnostic imaging services metrics
• Support the department by assisting with daily operations, maintaining appropriate patient and radiologist schedules and monitoring performance improvement, safety, quality and regulatory standards
• Required to make high-level decisions in accordance with Thames Valley Hospital Planning Partnership (TVHPP) initiatives, hospital and department processes, policies and procedures
• Develop and update RIS/PACS procedures and policies
• Provide user training and develop operational and training documentation
• Stay current with advancements in diagnostic imaging technology and make recommendations on the acquisition and implementation of new technology
• Provide on-call support

Qualifications & Experience:
• Must be a current member in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
• Membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) or the Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences (OAMRS) is preferred
• Minimum five years' recent experience as a Medical Radiation Technologist
• Imaging Informatics Certificate Program is an asset
• In depth knowledge of diagnostic imaging departmental and technical processes, protocols and procedures and their internal and external applications
• In depth knowledge of RIS/PACS principles/methods and their clinical applications, with a focus on Cerner Millennium and Agfa Enterprise Imaging solutions
• Proficiency in the use of Speech Recognition Reporting System, OneView Diagnostic Imaging Repository, GearView and Centricity Systems would be an asset.
• Experience as a diagnostic imaging coordinator for Wait Times Information System, and an understanding of diagnostic imaging billing codes from the Ministry of Health Schedule of Benefits.
• Knowledge of Management Information System (MIS) Standards for workload units within diagnostic imaging
• Experience in developing and implementing process redesign
• Experience using applications such as Excel, Power Point, Visio and Discern Analytics
• Experience in information technology commonly used software tools and their application in a medical imaging environment
