Job Description

The South East Area is seeking family physicians interested in full/part time locum opportunties in communities located within the South East Health Networks. The rural physician locum program provides family physician locum services to assist and sustain rural communities experiencing short and long term physician disruptions.

A full time rural locum agreement is based on 160 days of service which can include clinic, ER, on-call or a combination of all three. Locums are paid a daily rate based on years of service for each day of service provided including week days, weekends and statutory holidays.

Physicians are eligible for an initial signing bonus of $11,000 and an end bonus of $10,000 upon signing a 12 month full time contract. This bonus is only applicable to full time contracts and cannot be pro-rated for part time contracts.

While working as a rural locum, physicians are able to enter into other contractual agreements provided they do not interfere or conflict with the provision of physician services in accordance with the rural locum agreement.

Job Qualifications

  • Certified or eligible to be certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Regular or Provisional License with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) (or eligible to be licensed)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Recommended - Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Successful Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sector
  • Current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada
