Job Description: This position works as part of an interdisciplinary primary health care team. Under the direction of Primary Health Care Manager, the Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health care services to the community. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for clients in the community both independently and collaboratively with a physician, depending upon the complexity of client needs. This includes: health promotion and protection; first line treatment and emergency services; provision of supportive counselling and instruction in management of medical conditions; disease and injury prevention; initiating and conducting community needs assessments and participating in evaluative projects; and collaboration with and referral to other health care professionals.

Experience

  • Experience in a community rural setting
  • One (1) year community nursing experience
  • 3 years experience as an RN in primary care, public health or acute care
  • Experience in community development and health promotion

Education

  • Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP)

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS)
  • Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Specialization
