Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Emergency Medical Technician $29.909 to $36.572

Job Description: Reporting to the Manager or designate for the area of the province they are working, the Emergency Medical Services - EMT/PCP responds to emergency and non-emergency events, and provides assessment, treatment, and transportation of the ill or injured persons consistent with The Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and bylaws; and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures, and work standards.

Education

  • Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute

Licenses

  • Valid Class 4 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  • International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS)
  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR)

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System.
  • Ability to exhibit situational Awareness
  • Knowledge of EMS Practitioners legislation/protocols/scope of practice
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to function effectively in periods of high stress/emergent situations
  • Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions
  • Heavy lifting and often extreme physical exertion will be required
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Decision making through the application of clinical, legal & ethical practice
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care
