About our organization: LLRIBHS promotes dental health services and dental health education to all LLRIB community members of. We work closely with the schools and other health organizations. Together with others, we work to build capacity and educate as we both address acute needs and the determinants of health.
About the position: The Dental Therapist will be responsible for oral care to our clients in and around the community of La Ronge. Working cooperatively with health clinics and schools to provide complete oral care services to school aged children and adults.
Duties:
- Community & Preventive Dentistry – initiate appropriate disease prevention strategies at the individual & community level; fluoride, A.R.T., health education, school, Head Start & Daycare tooth brushing;
- Diagnostics Services – evaluate the oral health needs of clients (initial, recall, emergency & specific clinical & radiographic examinations, orthodontic screening, case presentation & referrals);
- Restorative Dental Treatment – restore teeth to proper form, function & aesthetics using appropriate dental materials (amalgam & restorations, stainless stee crowns, pulp therapy & exactions);
- Practice Management – Organize & manage workload of the dental team (Supervise & direct the work of dental aides) keep accurate client records & gather epidemiological data-def/DMF for communities;
- Follow LLRIB initiatives;
- Maintain liaison with Band Administration, the Community & other related Agencies;
- Follow & keep up to date on current Infection Control Standards;
- Practice Quality Assurance Standards;
- Other duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor or designate.
Qualifications: Suitable candidates must have a Diploma in Dental Therapy, in good standing and registered with the Saskatchewan Dental Therapist Association; Ability to speak / understand Cree is an asset; experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset; Self-motivated and able to work independently; Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, public relations and problem-solving skills is an asset; Demonstrate ability to prepare written reports; Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
